We spent most of the week here at home, except for a day trip
to see Hutch's parents.
Funny how we can stay so busy without ever leaving the house:)
But really...it's the best kind of busy to me!
I love to see the girls busy at home

pursuing what is meaningful to them
and knowing that they have plenty of uninterrupted time

to do so.

So here are the highlights of our relaxed week of learning:

Bubble Talk game with family- it's too funny!
One of our favorite things this week- virtual surgery at Edheads.org
BrainPOP- videos and games
Weather watching and learning at NOAA- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's site
Apples to Apples, Cranium, Spoons, and Hide and Seek with friends
The history of Saint Patrick
Several books about Ireland
Party planning
Video making
Piano playing and lessons
Volunteering at the Children's Shelter- We brought some donations from our church and spent part of the afternoon organizing the clothing closet for the shelter.
Adam of the Road (read aloud)
Leonardo da Vinci bio (A.)
The Silver Chair (M.)
Pet Shop Math
College gymnastics meet- we go to every home meet to root for our team! The girls also watched the American Cup meet at Mamaw's house:)
Sign Language- A. (then she comes home and teaches M. everything she's learned) THe girls shared some of what they were learning with their grandmother and she showed them some sign language videos she had taped for them. I love to see grandparents sharing in the girls' passions!
Choir/Theater classes- Choir is just M. and both girls take Theater
Preschool- Both girls volunteer with me once a month to keep preschoolers in extended session at church, but A. volunteers every week assisting the preschool teacher at our homeschool group. She has a way with little ones, and I think this is fantastic practical experience for her!
Cultural Literacy- the book I'm reading but I love the list in the back...things every American should know. We're going through the list item by item to see what and how much we know:)
So B. It, by Sarah Weeks, Martin Luther King, Jr. Bio (A.)
Road to Revolution (M.)
Bible Challenge (Bible trivia)
Lego building- M. built a national park last week, complete with amphitheater. This week, it's a vet clinic.
Exploring the woods and of course, reruns of Little House on the Prairie...our week just wouldn't be complete without

1. M. loves building with legos!
2. What our table really looks like most of the time;)
3. Enjoying an American Girl magazine with Mamaw
4. Video editing...with a little help from the cat!
5. A.'s sunrise art, inspired by this post and her favorite Toby Mac song:)
5. Love him and how hard he works for our family!

I am a little jealous of all your time at home. With the play practice 3 days a week, Co-op, and Kei at the Animal Clinic we are never home. I crave days with nothing to do. Love all the things your girls do Jenn. Keilee would love to support a gymnastics team! I need to check into that. Keilee would love to take sign language lessons! Very cool. What is the Cultural Literacy book? I have one I have had forever called The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy-What Every American Needs to Know. Is that it? I LOVE that book! A's poster is wonderful! Sorry if my comment doesn't make sense Keilee is singing from Annie and Les Mis opera style at the top of her lungs. GIRLS! :)

Haha...I know exactly what you mean. M. is naming every single one of her Lego friends for me while I try to type while A. asks for help with pre-algebra;) So, I'll just defer all math questions to Hutch right now and hope M. doesn't expect me to remember all those names!

Is your book by E.D. Hirsch, Jr.? Sounds like the same book but mine doesn't say Dictionary of...

And I could be a total homebody and never complain:)

Fun, fun week! Thought of you today as I drove home from Tulsa Ok and started seeing signs for Arkansas!

We are so close to Tulsa! You weren't too far away. It's probably the closest big city to us. Did you enjoy it?

I'm another who is a little envious of your time at home. I'm a total homebody and am making an effort to get out and about more with Miss 12. Sadly, sometimes all the right opportunites come at once. It was a great week - a couple of very successful birding expeditions, a fun pedal boating outing, a Chinese Lantern Festival and Japan Day - great learning opportunities (and food ;-) ) at both. But I am hoping this week turns out to be a bit more home based.

Sounds like fun, especially the festival! Maybe you'll get a chance to be home more this week:)

I envy your time at home, too. Theater and music and sign language are at the college you teach at?

We had a rough fall between Jason's surgery and my uncle being so ill, that I think I thought I was making the spring easier on me by getting involved in a lot of activities this winter. Basketball clinic ended and the girls opted not to do the next round--I was so glad for that. We have another class ending this week and another at the end of March. Then we are back to just choir Wednesday evening, Art on Saturday morning and co-op on Friday morning.

Yes, this semester we are either at home or the college. We get out on Tues./Thurs. and that's about it, except for church.

I'm so glad the girls can take classes while I teach. I felt stretched to thin after the fall semester and all that our family went through...much like you guys. Knowing that we have large chunks of time at home right now is really nice.

Glad things are slowing down for you too:)

Another total homebody raising her hand here! ;) We girls thrive on at-home time and we always manage to keep ourselves nicely busy. I am a tad worried about what's going to happen when I start working more within the next few months...but I am sure we'll get through it. The library is like a second home, so it's not SO bad.
The sunrise art is beautiful :)
I think we have a copy of that cultural literacy book you mentioned at our library...

So glad I'm not the only one with a table that looks like that :)

Love how busy you are at home.
Homeschooling rocks!
As my child is sitting in sweat pants and a pj top doing math, I think of how blessed we are!
Great post.
