In my life and our homeschool this week…I find that I can’t separate the two. Life is school. I see all of us pursuing our interests and passions, learning new things, reading, discussing, experimenting, listening, encouraging each other, and supporting one other. We are joyful learners:)

I am inspired by…my dad. He’s battling many complications after having lung surgery. He’s tough though, and his strength and attitude through this long, exhausting process have been very inspiring.

People we’re seeing…family and friends. Who knew chicks were so popular?! We’ve had a lot of company this week, and many of them were friends that came by to see our new chicks. They really are quite cute! With the beautiful weather this week, there were kids all over the place…inside, around the table, outside, on the porch, in the treehouse, swinging in the tire swing, playing basketball, or running around the yard. The girls loved every minute of it!

My favorite thing this week was…the girls made a fruit tart, but they insisted on calling it a fruit pizza. It really did look like a pizza…and it was delicious too! The crust is a giant sugar cookie. The "sauce" is 4 ounces cream cheese mixed with 1/4 c. sour cream and 2 tsp. sugar. The fruit? Rainbow colors, of course:)
What’s working for us…a little “front porch therapy.” Earlier this week, I told my husband that I felt overwhelmed and stressed. His response, “We just need to sit on the front porch more…with iced tea.”

You know what?! He was right! After taking his advice, I have to agree that it’s almost impossible to be stressed while enjoying the beautiful weather and watching the kids play in the yard from your perch on the porch swing where you can sip sweet tea:)

Things I’m working on…yard and garden planning.

I’m reading…The Backyard Homestead, by Carlene Madigan. Yeah, I really want a mini farm.

I’m grateful for…family and friends, encouragement and prayers, other mom bloggers who inspire me

I’m praying for…my dad, others who are hurting or sick, and the many who are traveling this time of year.

That's about it for this March week. After a rough start, it was a good one after all!

I keep trying to find ways to turn our place into a little farm, too, or at least remove lawn for more garden space!

Chicks are so much fun. It's way too early for them in Ontario where we live, so we still have a change to discuss how many to get and what direction our backyard homestead is going to go.

You know I love the pictures! The girls loved the chicks. B loved the "pizza," too. She told me all about it at supper last night. Praying for your daddy.

We don't have a front porch, but we are working on finishing a back porch, and I love that kind of therapy! That fruit "pizza" is rather tempting looking, too!!

I've got my eye on the back porch too...it needs a lot of work, but it has a nicer view. Maybe I'll put that on the giant to-do list we've got going here:)

I'm bummed we didn't build our porch big enough for a swing...but actually I guess there are smaller swings I need to look into that. It really is hard sometimes to figure out what to put in the school category and what to put in the home category since it's really all the same. Love the pizza.

I love your husband's advice. At my house we have back porch therapy. It works wonders. I'm always refreshed & ready for another round after a good porch sit. Stopping by from the HMJ.

I want a farm too! And, we are thinking about getting chicks. Glad to see you are having so much fun with yours. I didn't really think about the popularity that might come with getting chicks, that would be fun. It would definitely be a new adventure. I have the same problem separating life from homeschool too when writing my post too. I keep trying to find a separation somehow, and usually just fluff through it. Love the name of your blog.

LOVE the fruit pizza! We need to make one of those. Also love the front porch therapy...your husband sounds like a very smart man :)
What animals are you hoping to add to your mini farm?

If you ask the girls, they are planning on adding every farm animal known to man...but I was thinking just goats for now. One thing at a time, much to their dismay:)

Great post. It looks like the girls had a blast at their tea party. Tell them the decorations were awesome!

That fruit 'pizza' looks great. Still praying for your Dad.

And we do 'patio' therapy here. It soothes the soul doesn't it?

Front porch therapy sounds awesome!! I wish we had a front porch...we do have a back deck...maybe that is similar?

Also, LOVE the idea of a mini farm. We have been watching the Waltons and fantasizing more and more about having a bigger garden, more space, chickens, etc.
